World Cleanup Day

World Cleanup Day is one of the biggest civic movements of our time, uniting 157 countries across the world for a cleaner planet. This World Cleanup Day, HCL Foundation along with NOIDA Authority and Decathlon came together to organise a mega Cleanup drive to clean the area around NOIDA stadium. The objective of the event was to create awareness about no littering & waste segregation and to get the citizens together to work towards making Noida the cleanest city.

The event began at 6:00 am with registrations of the volunteers, distribution of t-shirts & caps and trash collection kit to them. The volunteers did a Zumba with the Zumba experts as a warm-up activity. The volunteers further proceeded to “plogging” activity – a cleanliness drive around NOIDA Stadium covering an area of 2.1 kms. During plogging, 1000kgs of waste was collected by volunteers which was brought back to trash centre at the stadium. The waste was then collected by the NOIDA Authority vehicles from the trash centre.

Ms Ritu Maheshwari, IAS and CEO of NOIDA Authority addressed the event on “No to Single Use Plastic” and making NOIDA no. 1 in Swachh Survekshan 2020. RWA presidents, FONRWA representatives and various IAS officers were also present during the event. The partners during the event were appreciated which was followed by a celebratory drum circle performance and a dance performance by kids on messaging of “say no to plastic”.
