Awareness Session with Club Staff of Sector 15-A

The event was conducted with the staff members including security guards, cleaning staff, chefs, gardening staff etc. of club of sector 15A. The event started with making the staff aware of solid waste and explaining the importance of source segregation to them. We asked them to start segregating the waste in their own houses and prepare the compost from segregated wet waste. To make the program interesting and more relatable, we chose to have an activity on segregation. To demonstrate the segregation activity, we used 2 bins; green bin indicated wet waste and blue bin indicated dry waste. Different waste items like aluminium foil, fruit peels, tin container, plastic container, empty milk packet, cloth, leather, dry leaves, & we asked the staff to categorize these items into dry and wet waste.To encourage the staff to reduce the use of plastic bags, we distributed them the jute bags. They were asked to use these jute bags during purchase of fruits, vegetables and other stuff and discourage the use of plastic polythenes.
