URBAN VILLAGES

  1. Model Urban Villages: Transforming 8 urban villages into Model Urban Villages with an end-to-end management of solid waste that includes-
  • 100% door-to-door waste collection and segregation through tricycles with green and blue bins to facilitate the source separation of waste
  • 100% street sweeping and drain cleaning using wheel barrels for collecting waste during street sweeping and specially designed drain cleaning vehicles being introduced with a mesh to filter drain water from silt
  • Community engagement through street plays, puppet shows, wall paintings, drawing competitions in schools on the theme of municipal solid waste management and No to Single Use Plastic
  • Setting up of Resource Recovery Pak (RRP) to sort and process recyclable materials collected from households into raw materials for new products
  1. ChakaChak Villages: Transforming 61 urban villages into visibly clean areas through community involvement and mass cleanliness drives
  • Thrice cleaning of streets, drains, school premises, markets, garbage vulnerable points in the village to make it visibly clean
  • Creating potential volunteers for the programme through rallies by school students who carry out the messaging of cleanliness using placards and slogans
  • Distribution of twin bins to shop owners of the village and cloth bags to residents to discourage the use of plastic bags
