Also awarded 5-star garbage-free city rating

Swachh Survekshan 2021

HCL Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of HCL, is a proud supporter of Noida's mission to become India's cleanest city, since 2019. HCL Foundation's flagship program Clean NOIDA has been collaborating with city authorities to plan, design and implement effective Solid Waste Management initiatives in Noida. Supported by these efforts, Noida has emerged as the Cleanest Medium City (population of 3-10 Lakh) in Swachh Survekshan 2021, an annual survey of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in India. In the rankings for cities with 1-10 Lakh population, Noida was rated as 4th cleanest in the country. It has also received a 5-star garbage-free city rating, a higher achievement from having received a 3-star garbage-free city rating in 2020.

Clean NOIDA has successfully implemented
high-impact initiatives across the city over the
last three years to drive change.

Behavior Change

Mass media communication, door-to-door campaigns and events have been conducted to drive behavior change in citizens. Through these efforts, over 5 Lakh citizens from 1.2 Lakh households have been made aware of best practices to manage solid waste. 1100 twin litter bins were installed by Clean Noida across the city and more than 9000 litter bins were distributed to commercial establishment. Over 1 Lakh cloth bags were distributed to households, to reduce the use of plastic bags. Clean Noida also works with 75 Residential Welfare Associations and high-rise apartment complexes to improve waste management systems in these neighbourhood in a decentralized manner.

Technological Innovation

A state-of-the-art Integrated Command Control Center has been set up to streamline the city's waste collection, transportation and remediation. The Center tracks over 370 waste collection and management vehicles that collect 2000 tons of waste per day. Facial recognition based attendance and monitoring of 5,000 sanitation workers further enhances efficiency.

System Strengthening

High-tech Litter Picking Machines, Garbage E-loaders and custom-made drain cleaning carts help clean road-side litter as well as waste from homes and markets in the city and urban villages.

Cleanliness Drives

Chakachak Villages project to implement over 140 rapid, intensive cleaning drives in 62 urban villages of Noida. Model Urban Villages project to transform eight urban villages into model villages with end-to-end waste management. The interventions have helped rid the villages of 7000+ tons of solid waste and 5500+ tons of liquid waste, to date. Citizens of Noida have graciously contributed a total of 54,137 hours in cleaning their neighbourhood.

The above efforts have helped Noida consistently
improve its rankings in the Swachh Survekshan since 2018.
